Actually, that is almost word for word what I imagined the
veterinarian saying! Why? Speaking as someone who works with
"professionals" all day, and being one (allegedly :-)), I know that
people with advanced (doctoral) degrees get very annoyed, even
threatened, when their knowledge (read as 'authority') is challenged
by someone without the "advanced training/education/knowledge" they
have.
Until medical schools start pounding it into their heads, and it
starts coming from the "top" down, sadly I don't see much changing.
