In my "other" life I am on the Board of Trustees for the local public
library district and I had a disturbing moment last night at our
meeting. I may have handled it wrong but I know some of you can provide
some ideas for me. Our new computer system was quite complex and we
closed the library for a week to install it. I saw a copy of the poster
that was used to announce this and it was done as a baby announcement
with a large bottle on it! Well, I spoke up and got my head bit off by
the director and several other board members! They said "oh it's such a
common thing, every knows it's "just a symbol", blah, blah." My response
was that we are trying to change that attitude and it is obviously very
difficult for me to understand. So I'm in deep water here and need to
have some very rational ideas. It got so heated for a minute that the
president of the board just told me to drop it - even though I was not
the one who was heated up! Any thoughts, fellow supporters of
breastfeeding?
