This was discussed recently and is in the archives, but I had a patient who
had this same problem.
This mom needs to use aggressive ice and cabbage to the underarm milk glands
to try to get them to dry up, heat and massage will only further stimulate
them to make more milk. Why does the doctor feel that one is infected? Does
she have a fever? If there are not obvious signs of infection, mom should
treat these to dry them up as best she can and say NO to probably unneeded
surgery.
The mom I worked with shrank both of hers down to a small size after several
days of aggressive cabbage and ice to the underarm area.
Good Luck,
Cindy
