Just one more thing to consider for the babe with thrush related pain. While you
are treating the thrush it might also help to treat the pain with a topical
anesthetic.
I learned to do this when I was a pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant nurse....we
used Xylocaine Viscous...but I might also consider a teething gel. The numbing
stuff is used pre-feed, the Nystatin is used post feed.
Our BMT kids were all ages, some quite young. They were very prone to thrush
because of the intensive chemotherapy we did.
Just a thought.
