I couldn't agree more! Growth charts were developed for researchers (like
myself) to compare one group of children to other groups of children. They
were never meant to be used to track the growth of individual children and
especially not to be the sole source of information for deciding whether or
not a child was developing normally. Here here Nikki!! Another reason why
I feel that new growth charts based on breastfed children (coming in 2003
from WHO) will not magically solve the problems of doctor's insisting on
supplementing . . . all charts can and probably will be abused.
