Did anyone else in the US see a network news story Monday night about an
Indiana father who has admitted to suffocating his 7 m/o infant? According
to the story, the autopsy had concluded that the baby died of SIDS but
after the baby's funeral, the father confessed that he (sorry for these
details) fastened a plastic bag around the baby's head, waited until the
baby stopped breathing, then placed him in his crib, face down, and called
911.
YOu start to wonder if *any* SIDS statistics are reliable - it seems so
likely that infant deaths have been misclassified, in both the positive and
negative direction.
Sad.
