Thanks, Elisheva, for your input re: the hunger site. I went and clicked
too, but I was very much hoping that someone who knew more about this kind
of thing than I do would have something to say. Something about it bothers
me, but I don't know enough about macro-economic issues to untangle what it
is. Your information helps a great deal. It always disturbs me when anything
like this gives people the impression that they are actually *doing
something* real and effective when they "click on the logo" or "honk if you
love Jesus" or whatever the thing-of-the-moment is. We *know* solutions are
never that quick and easy and mindless, and it's almost worse to get a warm
fuzzy feeling about yourself by thinking you've made a contribution, when
all you've done is basically nothing.
