Sounds like the peds office described is a marketing outlet for formula! I
refuse to have anything with a formula logo on it hanging on my walls, won't
give out any coupons for formula, and keep all formula samples in a back
room--they are handed out only to moms who are formula-feeding anyway, and
then very sparingly (like if the mom has run out of formula, doesn't have any
money to buy any more, and can't get her welfare/WIC check for another
week--I point out to these moms that if she were breastfeeding this would not
be an issue--but I'd rather hand her some free formula than have her feed the
baby something even more inappropriate.) Often, the samples expire--then I
donate them to the wildlife rehab facility which uses the stuff as food
supplements for injured wildlife. We took the formula out of the cute little
puzzle cubes and just gave the puzzle cubes out to 1-year-olds.
