I'm the world's laziest letterwriter. It's a lot easier just to stay
away from Nestlé products. Grudgingly, I have to acknowledge the
wisdom of my husband's comment to me: "You can buy or not buy Nestlé
products. Nestlé will never know or care. I think it makes a lot
more sense, and is a lot more likely to be noticed, if you go ahead
and buy the candy bar *but write them a letter telling them you don't,
and why*.
Same with Disney. I think we make a lot bigger splash if we attend
the LLLI conference - and I guarantee, LLLI conferences are
*wonderful* experiences - but write individual, non-affiliated letters
to Disney decrying their alliance with Nestlé, or write to Nestlé
telling them we're boycotting their products *and telling our friends
and clients why we are*. Our actual individual presence or absence at
the conference won't make the slightest blip on anyone's radar screen.
Letters might.
(As for DisneyWorld - I do love it there. Even tho the first time we
went - long before any Nestlé dilemma - I started thru the turnstile,
turned to my family and told them, "We're about to enter a world where
everything's perfect"... only to have the turnstile flip back and
whack my 3 year old in the mouth. There is no perfect world. Sigh.)
