And I always got a laugh when I said to the moms in Puerto Rico - "what do
you think happened when Joseph and Mary had to flee Nazareth - did Mary say
- Joseph, grab the cow - we have to go!"
Things are never as simple as they seem. I really learned a lot from my
roommates from Zambia who were at the LLLI Convention - they have to cope
with so many beliefs around breastfeeding. They may seem strange, (ex: the
colostrum is actually the man's semen, and should not be given to the baby
until the milk is white...) but are they any stranger than the stories we
hear every day from moms who hear "don't feed the baby too often, it'll
need to get used to eating on a regular schedule" , "don't let the baby
rule your life" and "don't spoil the baby"?
