Hi all you knowledgeable lactation ladies (and gents)
Today I got a very sad call from a woman who has three children under 4
whose husband has a brain tumor, and after trying absolutely everything they
figure he will only live about a year. They have heard the breast milk can
kill cancer cells and she wanted to know what she has to do to relactate.
The longest she has ever breastfed is 6 weeks.
So, I told her all I knew about induced lactation (relactation), referred
her to the Denver Mother's Milk Bank, and LLL (for casual donors if they
decide to go that route). However, they are interested in reading any and
all RESEARCH done on this, and I am sure somebody (or many of you) have
those references. If you could email this man privately it would be
appreciated very much.
His address is [log in to unmask]
Thanks so much in advance. I will keep you all posted on what happens.
Deanne Francis, R.N. IBCLC NICU
