Today I saw a mom of a 2 month old. growing well but has feeding problems in
the day.
He latches well, feeds well for 5 to 10 minutes then fusses and comes off.
Goes to other side and does the same, sometimes will then go back to first
side again.
At night he feeds 10 to 20 minutes one side then falls asleep.
Mom found if she pumps in the day and bottle feeds 3 ounces (90cc) he is
happy. After multiple tries at artificial nipples he likes an orthodonic
one. He also seems to feed best when the milk quickly drips out even over
flows his mouth.
So I suggested the breast compresson techinque to mom but she said I had
given her Jack's handout and it didn't work.
To me it sounds as if the baby lkes the quick let down but when flow slows
he is unhappy.
No difference in nursing positions day vs night.
Any suggestions?
