Since IBCLC is an International designation, wouldn't that supercede any
"state" licensing?
Also if dad plans to leave baby all day with grandmom there is absolutely
no reason for mom not to be the "babysitter". (unless she works too). Dad
only needs to have baby when he can provide the care! Pumping on and off
for a week at a time is one of the most stupid things I've ever heard!
But the main issue is what is appropriate for a six month old. Short
frequent visits are appropriate, like 2 hours every other evening, with up
to maybe 4 hours on one weekend day. This would slowly evolve to longer
times as baby approaches age 2, then over nights. Baby needs a secure
attachment, not to be passed back and forth like "property". It would be
best if parents and their lawyers could come to some sort of an arrangement
on their own, like the adults they all claim to be, considering baby's
best interests. I just listened to Elizabeth at NJ LLL mtg this week. She
is a gem, call her tonight for moral support Barbara!
Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
