I noticed Mary Renard's note about her son's football games, and this
reminded me of my thoughts yesterday. I was in helping a couple breastfeed
their 25 hour old infant ( Dad was hoovering very close by, making sure that
I didn't harm his daughter and was doing absolutely everything perfect !!).
The parents were worrying about new parent concerns--how to tell if the mom
is producing milk, how to tell the baby is getting milk, is the poop the
right color etc etc. As I was reassuring them ( trying to) it occurred to me
that my daughter was out surfing in the pre-hurricane waves and my son was in
football practice. And how I remember when my biggest worries were whether
or not my baby had the right color poop!! We never stop the worrying, do we,
just change the focus. But fortunately, the new mom's prolactin kicked in,
she relaxed and melted into the baby. I don't have the prolactin advantage!!!
