Story from a WIC Mom: Her pediatrician told her it was a good thing
that she was breastfeeding. And that her breastmilk was probably keeping
her baby from going into sickle cell crisis!!!
Also, a WIC Dad came in today to get a formula change which means his 3
week old is not tolerating formula. I talked to him about trying
breastmilk. We often talk to the moms but this is the first time I talked
to a Dad first. He looked a bit surprised but he said, "She still has milk"
and he is going to talk to the mom about breastfeeding and our LC is
following up tonight. Keep your fingers crossed for them!!!! (isn't it
kind of sad that a dad can be so aware of leaking milk in his partner yet so
unaware of its ability to heal an ailing child?)
