okay, i was just at a tremendously disturbing conference which i might
elaborate upon later, but i want to answer about the treating cancer with
breastmilk. i just convinced a local oncologist to allow the husband of one
of my clients to take breastmilk as part of his treatment. the reasons i
suggested this were various, but the mostly theoretical reason is based on
the research using a component of breastmilk alphalactalbumin (not
lactoferrin) to kill tumor cells. i am extremely excited; this woman had so
much milk that she has hundreds of ounces, including from the very first day
of her baby's life, so the milk he gets will include two weeks worth of
colostrum and transitional milk, all untreated except for being frozen.

there is some evidence/hope that this component of breastmilk could pass
through the GI track of an adult and still be effective against cancer cells.

the other reasons i suggested this adjunct treatment were palliative, to help
him cope with his other treatment, and possibly to support increased immune
system functioning. also there is the possibility of components in the
breastmilk encouraging remyelination, which might be of even more interest to
laura's client's mother.

i can elaborate on this a great deal more to explain if anyone is interested,
but i am very curious to see what happens. this man has a stage 4
bronchio-alveolar carcinoma, which is a big, bad scary disease.

i have it on good authority (okay, for the best - jack) that cows do not pass
any immunities to their calves before birth, so that is why it is crucial for
them to get colostrum. did we talk about this before? sorry, i am still
distracted by the conference i was at. i think i need to be debriefed! but
anyway, i don't think that bovine milk components could possibly have any
noticeable effect upon humans. i vote for the daughter relactating as quickly
as possible.
