According to Infant Feeding: The Physiological Basis (James Akre) a
caucasian baby in a midwestern US city needs 10 minutes full-body
exposure or 30 minutes of head and hands exposure per week to meet its
vit D requirement. I tell moms if they take the baby with them when
they run errands, they're doing all that needs to be done. Avoid the
temptation to leave the baby at daycare or grandma's while you run the
errands, or your baby may literally never see the light of day.
