Hi, Cathy et. al
Okay, you asked for a story, and I will offer this without a personal
opinion. We do kangaroo care in our NICU, using both mothers and fathers.
One of our babies had graduated to direct breastfeeding, and when I walked
behind the privacy screen to see how mom was doing, it turned out to be Dad
with the baby at "chest" sucking away like mad. The Dad had even shaved his
chest, for heaven's sakes, and the baby left a hickey! I have to admit to
picking my jaw up off the floor.
Now if it had been a young male friend of mine with a pituitary tumor who
was diagnosed after noticing milk leaking from both breasts, I could
understand the nursing, but this guy was dry as the Sahara.
Deanne, R.N. IBCLC
