Greetings Lactnetters,

I saw a clip of this nursing mom who graces Time's recent cover on either CNN,
MSNBC or FOX News.  My 9 year old daughter spotted her first and said, "Look
mom, this lady is walking with her baby and breastfeeding."  We discussed how
fortunate this mom and baby were to be breastfeeding.

It reminded me of another war image of recent times I carry with me.  During the
Gulf War one of the above news agencies showed Iraqi people fleeing Bagdad
during some of the heavy bombing.  In the midst of the madness, a woman stops,
with baby in arms, and pours powdered formula in a bottle.  Shakes it, gives it
to her baby and walks on.  Tears were the only response I could muster at the
time.
