Heather said: "I have never heard any woman make a decision on 'personality'
grounds at birth, or make the decision at any time because of the baby's
'personality'...and I have heard lots of reasons not to bf."
But, among certain parts of the population (mostly less-educated, rural
people here where I live), I've heard many women say that they will decide
whether or not to breastfeed based on the gender of the baby. It can go
either way: some say if it's a girl, they won't breastfeed, because of fear
of "causing" homosexuality in the baby, or appearing to be homosexual
herself. Others say they'd breastfeed if it is a girl, but "just wouldn't
feel right" nursing a baby boy.
I'm not making this up - lots of people think this way!
