In Oregon the blood alcohol limit is .08%. As a longtime former
bartender I was taught by the OLCC I could serve a person of average
height 5'7" and average weight 150lb. one alcoholic beverage every hour
and the imbiber would maintain this blood alcohol level of .08%. One
alcoholic beverage = 1 oz. hard liquor = 4 oz.. wine = 12 ozs. beer. If
the person drinking were 6'5" and 280 lbs their body could handle almost
2 drinks an hour and maintain the blood alcohol level of .08%.
This is a general rule of thumb. Body fat and metabolism rates and food
consumption play into blood alcohol levels too. Women often get to and
maintain a higher blood alcohol level due to their higher body fat
content then men.
