"we respectfully ask that parents endeavour to refrain from breastfeeding
during main meetings and leave meetings quickly and quietly in the event of
a baby crying. Thank you."
Yikes! I wonder how these people have failed to notice that the fastest way
to quiet a crying baby is to pop it on mom's breast! Although I kind of like
the phrase "endeavour to refrain from breastfeeding": "Well, yes, Madam
Chairwoman, I did endeavour to refrain, but the baby is hungry, so...".
And the way it's worded, it kind of sounds like maybe it's the *other*
parents who are being requested to leave "quickly and quietly in the event
of a baby crying". As in "in the event of a fire, please do not panic, but
evacuate the building quickly and quietly." Powerful little beggars, those
nursing babies, eh?
