Hello Joy & Netters,
It was posted
......suitability of using microwave steam sterilizers for pump parts,
specifically Medela ones and the rep here (from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare,
who is Australian distributor for Medela) made a point of saying that the
parts would not be guaranteed if placed in a microwave oven, and not to use
this method.
Anyone who represents Medela like to comment and clarify this? Anyone else
had experience with this method?
As long as I have been with Medela as the LC, I have never been told that
the Medela pump parts or any breastfeeding product could be sterilized by
putting them in the microwave. I know that I have been asked that question
and have heard people talk about it in the past. I think there might be
specific products out there that work in the microwave, but I can not speak
for it/them. I can tell you that Medela does have a "Professional
Autoclave that is a automatic steam autoclave that sterilizes at 121
degrees C for 16mins, UL tested that also has control indicator test
strips. Contact Medela if you have any questions. Hope that clarifies up
some of the confusion.
"Conference Call" definition is: Three or more people who have nothing to
say talking to each other at the same time. by Mrs. Webster's Guied to
