I have a breastfeeding mom, baby is 3 wks, who will be returning to
active duty at 6 weeks and desires to pump....
She works on jet engines and is exposed to hydraulic fluid and JP 5
jet engine fuel. Current thoughts are for her to take her jump suit
off prior to pumping and to wear hospital grade gloves during
pumping. She does get "stuff" on her hands during the day and states
that parts to the engine are too small or would cause rips in
gloves therefore it is impractical to try and wear gloves during
work. She showers and scrubs down prior to coming home each day.
Anybody out there have any information on the effects of these
substances to breastmilk? Mom is going to bring me a MSDS for
everything that is in both substances (Material Safety Data Sheet)
I'm just trying to get a jump on anything out there that could give
us some guidelines.....
