I have checked the archives, but I need something more concrete. Does anyone
continue to promote finger feeding as the method for supplementation if baby
is able to take some feedings at the breast (3 in 24hours)? This baby
absolutely refuses the tube at the breast, but has grown quite fond of
finger feeding. Baby is 8 days old, 36 week gestation, gaining with EBM
supplementation. Mom is questioning the difference between finger feeding
and bottle feeding supplementation at this point, and so am I. Our hospital
policy states no bottle nipples to be given to breastfed babies. Yes, mom is
still in hospital because of feeding problems (we have a special care by
parent room designed for this purpose). Comments? Thanks.
