Newborn mix-up upsets family
Denver -- A Denver family is distraught following a brief mix-up of newborn
babies.

Phil Arellano says his 17-year-old daughter was breast-feeding an infant she
thought was her newborn son Friday when a nurse discovered the baby belonged
to another woman.

Arellano says the family sat there in stunned silence when the Denver Health
Medical Center nurse announced the mix-up. He says his daughter has not been
able to breast feed her own son since then.

In a statement, the hospital admitted the newborn was taken to the wrong
mother for a brief period of time.

Officials say the Colorado Board of Nursing will investigate once the
incident is reported.
