Dear Lactnetters,
My son, when he was working in South Africa, sent me a newspaper
clipping which is too good not to share. It was in a question/anwer
section in the Sunday Times, Johannesburg, in 1986.
The inquirer aksed why men still have nipples, since they (the
nipples) perform no biological function.
   The reply:
'A businessman asked to inspect a Silver Spirit Rolls. The salesman
showed him the boot (trunk), which contained a toolkit. The businessman
asked why he needed a toolkit for a car which would never break down.
'The salesman replied it was there "just in case".
' The buyer argued that if he was prepared to spend R1-million
(about $300,000 then) on a car, he wanted to be sure it would never
break down. The salesman, losing his temper, said: "Sir, take off your
shirt!"
'The customer obliged. The salesman stretched out his finger and
said" "What is that?"
' "A nipple," the customer replied. The salesman siad: "Exactly.
In your case, you'll never have a baby. But you've got one just in
case." '
[The author of the reply was someone called Peter Mill]
   Cheers,
      Virginia
