I recently saw a 15 month old for a well visit. I had bumped into the mom a
few weeks ago in the hospital while she was visiting a
relative. Mom told me the child was still breastfeeding and I
told her its fine and what the AAP and WHO recommendations are.
At the well visit she told me of the grief extended family
members are giving her about breastfeeding and that she has
told them she is doing what the doctor recommends.
On history this child is saying two and sometimes three
word phrases and recognizes a few colors.
After the exam I asked mom if she knows why her child
isnt getting the stomach virus a lot of the kids in the area are
and told her to tell the relatives the child has the speech development of a
2 to 3 year old and it "Must be something in
her milk". I gave mom's genes credit too but I love using the "something in
your milk line."
