Does anyone have any current info on bf in the former USSR in general or
specifically in Belarus? I heard a plea for aid for starving babies
today--specifically for formula. The group said mothers in Belarus are
boiling potatoes and beans and feeding the infants the water from this.
I don't know how accurate this description is. The plea was specifically
to give "infant formula" to these families. I would like to respond to
this organization in a positive way, but need more info(and suggestions).
It just seems to me that if your baby is starving on potato water, you'd
try to relactate, even if you didn't know you could produce more milk,
just for comfort. I must admit I did not hear the entire pitch for help
from this group, just the last few minutes. If any of you heard it also,
please fill in the missing pieces.

Sincerely,
Carolee Hall, ICCE, CD, LE
