Yes, infants can benefit from "baby bifidus" or acidophilus with bifidus.
The doctors whom I work with recommend 1 capsule or 1/3 tsp a day to
recolonize the baby's GI tract after abx treatments. It is given 3 times a
day. I hope your client's Ped is knowledgeable about yeast and about the
healthy intestinal flora in a breastfed infant.
The bifidus or acidophilus can be put into liquids in the bottle or mom can
wet a finger, touch the powder and have baby suck her finger. If she uses
the capsule (refrigerated, of course) she can open it and sprinkle about
1/3 of it on her finger. If in powder she just touches it with her wet
finger.
