>So true! I had a mother recently who contacted me about phasing out
formula. She called me many times over the next few days and it seemed to
me that she was unable/unwilling to put the baby to the breast often (or
even at all) or even to pump, though she was still adamant she wanted to
bf. We made a time when she would phone again. This time came and went, and
a couple of days after it I called her...concerned for all sorts of
reasons. She then said I was pressurising her to breastfeed.....

I am new here. My name is Rhonda Feder and I am just beginning to study to
become a peer counselor with the Nursing Mother's Advisory Counsel in Elkins
Park, PA. If you would like a more formal introduction or more information
about me, please let me know.

I have known a couple of women who seem to want to want to breastfeed. (No
typo there.) What I mean is they seem to wish that they felt comfortable
with the idea of breastfeeding, they believe it is better for baby, but when
it comes right down to putting the baby to the breast, they just for some
reason are turned off.

I don't know if that is what is happening to the women in the this you all
are talking about in this thread, but among my friends and friends of
friends, these seems to be not terribly uncommon. I hope through my studies
and Lactnet I may learn how to help these women to discover the joy of
nursing their babies. Of course, I also hope to learn much, much more.
