Hi All!
Wanted to take a couple of minutes to post responses to the latest strain of
herbal questions.
First of all, regarding Herbalife. I would absolutely advise against their
use during bf. The ephedra content in their weight loss products are quite
high along with other stimulant based herbals. I agree with the post
indicating a lack of trust in products that will not list their ingredients.
Makes you kind of wonder. This, along with most other weight loss herbals
are just way to high in stimulants for the average bf mom. Affecting not
only supply, but potential problems with baby in the area of sleeplessness,
fussiness, digestive problems, decreased appetite resulting in poor weight
gain etc. etc. etc. (the list goes on).
Regarding the mom with Arthritis...weaning is not going to do anything to
assist in pain management. There are several herbals out there that are
excellent for assisting in pain reduction and in decreasing the swelling in
the joints. Also, dietary considerations. Many herbals for arthritis will
contain ginger, wild yam, yucca root, devil's claw among others. I have had
other bf moms with this condition that have been able to successfully manage
their pain herbally during bf. The dietary considerations are...cut out red
meat, nightshades and all acidic foods. Overly acidic blood stream is a
great contributing factor to arthritis. If this mom is interested in
discussing herbal options and dietary factors, she or the consultant are
welcome to contact me by phone.
Hope you find this information useful.

Wishing you health and wellness!
