Greetings,

I have a few comments re:LLLI Conference in Florida.

I am a La Leche League Leader and believe in the work LLL does. I support their
efforts through my time, energy and money. I think they made a mistake in
choosing the Disney site for their Conference. I have voiced my displeasure
directly to LLLI. and will NOT be attending.

The idea that Disney will draw more people to the Conference makes me think
about how many of us try to use all our creative juices to get women to
breastfeed, stay breastfeeding or even consider breastfeeding in the first
place. We have to dangle something in front of them, you know to answer the
question "what's in it for me."

Do we as breastfeeding advocates, activists, radical, zealots, workers, however
we define ourselves, have to be enticed by Disney or whoever to attend a
conference? Is not the simple act of attending a Conference to learn more about
breastfeeding, to share our experiences and meet people who are committed and
working hard for mothers and babies the world over, sufficient? It seems not.

Right on to IBFAN for their clarity. I reserve the right to protest in any way
I see fit.

Jahaan Martin MEd, IBCLC, LLL Leader
