Lyn,

        There is a JHL research article indicating that brown glass is actually
the ideal storage container for breastmilk.  I don't have the article
handy, but know it is out there.   The brown glass at this time is not
convenient or cost effective for our NICU.  We currently use hard plastic
containers (volufeeds) for storage.  We cap the volufeeds with autoclaved
caps from formula or sterile water containers.    We do not prefer the
plastic bags because of an easier chance of contamination due to the
flexibility of the bag.
