It infuriates me when women are asked to go somewhere else to feed a
baby at breast when most people get to eat in public.

In this instance, however, try not to think too unkindly of your
supervisor.  My husband Connie was a drug and alcohol abuse counselor
for many years.  I would say that those in a treatment facility are in
the middle of a very fragile and "precarious" crisis-point in their
lives.  Not all men view breastfeeding with the warm mother-and-child
feeling with which it should be associated.

If you have ever done a generic search of Altavista, Yahoo or Excite,
for lactation or human milk, you have come across some pretty disturbing
web-sites.  This isn't meant to make us all go search for sleazy sites.
I just want to point out that some folks have managed to pervert
something that was designed to keep babies alive.

As far as breastfeeding triggering violent behavior - I'm not sure that
was the supervisor's intent. She may have been concerned about a breech
in a very fragile recovery or she may not know what she intended.  Maybe
one of these days you can ask her what she was thinking.  She may not
have put it into words - even to herself.
