Dear fellow lactnetters:
I have tried to get info from archives re: induced lactation/adoptive
nursing as I have a client who will be adopting and wishes to BF.
I apologize if my lack of experience shows but Im trying very hard to get there.
I have read the BAB/Lawrence and will start on Rhiordan tomorrow.
I feel I have a good understanding of the pathophysiology involved but there
doesnt appear to be one definitive way of inducing lactation. I am familiar
with Depo Provera as I am the Supervisor of our Family Planning Clinic but
it doesnt say this is the best route to go.
I want to do the best I can for this family and have established a rapport
by discussing BFing goals. Mom would love to fully BF - we have discussed
the commitment involved by both parents.
Mom has had a 6 1/2 month pregnancy (stillborn). Is very knowledgeable and
committed.
I have not been able to get info from archives so any suggestions
re:articles etc. would be very appreciated.
Mom may have as little as 10 or less days notice of birth, but at least will
be better chance of going to breast.
Thankyou from Jan Black, RN Breastfeeding Counsellor
