I am wondering how other units utilize their nurses who are IBCLC's.

If a problem arises with a lactation mom who handles the problem?

The bedside nurse?

IBCLC staff nurse?

Lactation consultant?

Do the neos in your unit every ask for the NICU nurse who is an IBCLC to
consult on a baby not assigned to her?

Is your unit part of a bargaining unit with a Union?

I am really interested in numbers as well.

How many units have IBCLC's on staff in the Lactation Consultant role only, in
NICU's?

What level nursery are you from?

I know I'm asking a lot of questions but we are trying hard to make management
aware of the need in our unit to have more nurses who are IBCLC's doing
consults, staff education, parent support, physician education.

Thanks,
