>>> It bothers me that she was given a reduction in the bigger breast as a
teen, didn't someone stop to think they might be destroying her one
functional breast? Here docs are far more likely to offer an implant for the
smaller breast. Catherine Watson Genna, IBCLC<<<
Although Fodor stated "Nine percent of all reduction mammoplasty surgeries
are done in women under the age of 18" (Fodor, Peter, "Pediatric Aesthetic
Surgery." Pediatric Basics, Gerber Products Co. 56 (1991): 9-12.) I wonder if
the precentage is higher. I have often met women who had breast reductions in
their teens at the urging of their mothers. It has been my experience that
the ability BF following reduction either was't discussed or they were told
it wouldn't make a difference.
Don't panic about the Gerber reference I read them only to see what the
competition is saying.
