I must agree with Kathy on the sleep deprivation issue.I am usually a
lurker but felt I had something pertinent to say on this issue. I nursed my
first child for 38 months and 6 months into my twin pregnancy. I am still
nursing my 16 mo. twins and know much
about sleep deprivation. I believe we can adapt. I am living proof. I don't
believe much the people who say they can't go without sleep. I think they
just have a mindset and don't want to see if they can.
My landlord once said she was grumpy or a bad mommy when she is tired and
must get her sleep. Well, I am grumpy too when sleep deprived but I have
learned to adapt to it and do quite well. I have been waking every 2-3
hours, sometimes more and sometimes less, for 16 months. It's not my
prefered method of getting rest but I take what I can get and deal with the
rest.
If more moms would expect NOT to sleep through the night I bet more moms
would be coping with sleep deprivation because they would not expect any
different.
