When making nursery rounds this morning, I became more irritated with each
knock on the mother's door because as I entered the room the first question I
was asked:
"Did you see the 20/20 program on breastfeeding? I am really worried about
breastfeeding my infant........" Yikes!
I, too, vowed many years ago NEVER to watch 20/20 or those other "news
magazine" TV shows because they irritate my ulcer not to mention all the
"grief" they cause to me, as a physician, to my nurse who has to field a lot
of unnecessary phone calls, and to my "worried" parents who want to do the
right thing for their children.
One positive note: one mom, who was having difficulty breastfeeding her
infant and very worried, told me that while she was watching 20/20 the floor
nurse came into her room and stated that if she knew that was on TV, she would
have cut off the television. Thank you Nurse! :)
