This is probably a silly question....but, is there a difference in
maternal antepartum/postpartum hormones that would make either male or
female infants more likely to succeed at breastfeeding? What makes me
ask is that I've been reading about the effects that estrogen has on
decreasing milk supply (ie estrogenic shots postpartum to dry moms up/
not using combination OCP's because of the estrogen component which is
thought to decrease milk quantity). When a female is born, is there a
higher amount of maternal estrogen than when a male is delivered? just
curious.......janna zempsky in w.hartford, CT
