Wendey asked, regarding a child refusing a different-flavoured antibiotic,
"What do you, as mothers feel? Would you let a child refuse its medication
under these circumstances?"
Absolutely not! But, without bragging tooooo much, my kids were always
great about taking these ghastly things - I always bribed them with, you
guessed it, chocolate - the spoon in one hand and the square of chocolate in
the other. Pop in the spoonful, pop in the chocolate. Of course, I prefer
to call this Positive Reinforcement .... and if the kid has been breastfed,
as a mother you don't have to stoop to this kind of behaviour too often, do you?
