I think the MD needs to look a bit farther for his diagnosis here. Has this
woman been checked for diabetes? Could she be pregnant again? (Sorry, I
can't remember age of baby, so excuse me if inappropriate question, please.)
Maybe something's going on with her hormone levels - low estrogen, perhaps?
Has anyone checked her blood glucose levels, esp. fasting (in AM)? Is it
possible that she's experiencing depression, either endogenous or exogenous?
What are her "other symptoms"? If the mom eats something substantial during
the night, does she feel better in the AM? Maybe she just needs to eat more!
(I'll assume that this has been checked out, so as not to belabor the
obvious OR make a fool of myself.)

This lady's situation has me a little worried - I don't like the sound of
it, and I don't like the low-fat diet, and I sure don't like the advice to
stop breastfeeding. Why does the doc recommend that?  How does the doc think
that will improve anything? Keep us posted!
