I can only speak from personal experience, but also believe there's a bell
curve on babies' sleep. I thought I was one heck of a great mom with
wonderful breastmilk when my first two daughters slept through the night --
and baby #1 I'm talking 8p - 6 a or so at six weeks. Daughter two slept the
same way and her growth rate was almost off the charts (top end).
Thank God Number One Son, Baby Number three, came along -- and didn't sleep
through the night until he was 2-1/2. It made me a much better teacher and
a much more compassionate counsellor. I was reminded very forcefully of how
much "luck of the draw" makes a difference in what we are blessed with in
our babies!
