I prefer to think of having a reputation for an 'assertive personality' ;)
Making change actually take place requires the ability to be clear and bold.
When a physician has a reputation for making decisive choices for the best
of her patients it is a sad reflection that she is viewed as 'pushy' ....
whether the b---- word is added or not.
I am a non nurse LC who has worked in a wide variety of environments. I had
the joy of coming in to work in hospital settings (as a private practise
consultant paid by an outside agency or by the patient) without a
preconceived notion of medical hierarchy and empire.. The view was
fascinating and frustrating at the same time. Too bad the team concept is
so easily spoken and so difficult to realize.
I must be clear, in my personal circumstances, that the medical, nursing,
and administration have all been lovely despite the occasional stepping on
toes on my part.
