Dear Heather and Lactnetters,
May I add to just one of your points? Breast changes at weaning
*need not* be so dramatic, with loss of fat deposits.
With *long, slow weaning*, the ideal, fat tissue has a chance to
build up again. Gradual weaning won't always end in plump breasts of
equal size to pre-pregnancy, but should - generally speaking - prevent
going flat (Heather's words were "two fried eggs"). If a Mum is putting
on weight at this time, as well, she may even end up with bigger,
heavier breasts at the point of weaning - which happened to me after my
last child. (Blame the weight gain for this!) Remember, there are lots
of variations in the human situation.
   Cheers,
     Virginia
