I am currently nomail ( :-( ) because we're off to Disneyworld and
the Gulf Beaches tomorrow. I was catching up on the backlog and read
the post by Marsha that there were certain pharmacies that will mix
oxytocin nasal spray for her. Can someone tell me the real reason
that it is no longer commercially available? I heard that the formula
was bought by one of the formula pharmaceuticals and they took it off
the market? Any truth to that?

A cousin in law was "having supply problems" and I, long distance,
suggested that she may want to look into that because it sounded like
a worrying mother/father induced letdown problem, compounded by a lack
of education on birth and breastfeeding. Her ob looked it up, said
"oh, it's been withdrawn, must have been a problem with it". Baby was
exclusively on formula right after that so that avenue was never
explored.

A discussion with a knowledgable childbirth educator, LC in training,
said that the oxytocin was effective only occasionally and for only a
few days? With proper instruction on the use, as well as support and
education on how to establish good breastfeeding in general, I can't
see how it wouldn't work with a willing mother. Please, someone,
enlighten me.

Please cc me since I'm nomail. mailto:[log in to unmask]

thanks.
