I wouldn't recommend that anyone use injectable Imitrex. There are rare,
but documented, side-effects of injectable imitrex including cardiac arrest
and death. One person I met only briefly at a conference, who was a
wonderful person, an ardent breastfeeding supporter and LLLL, and the mother
of three, died on January 1 subsequent to collapsing after giving herself an
injection of Imitrex in mid-December. Another acquaintance here in town has
been rushed to the ER twice after injections of Imitrex for crushing pain in
the chest and inability to breathe -- but she survived both times. At the
very least, Imitrex injections should only be given when another adult is
present and aware of the dangers so they can call 911 immediately if a bad
reaction occurs.
