Linda what a good weight those babies were, that seems to help.
My most successful triplet mom had three aprox 5lbs each also
about 36 weeks and a little one 17 months old who had nursed
12 months. Her previous experience was a great advantage.

Things that helped; her husband was home for the first 6 weeks,
she kept a white board on which she kept records of feedings in
the first few weeks, she did not expect to have much sleep and
did not seem to need as much as some new moms. She always
fed two together and swiched them as the third cried, they seldom
all cried together. Feedings took about one and a half hours and then
she slept for half an hour or more if she was lucky. Sometimes she
slept with a babe at breast. She supplemented with a tube at the
breast (her own milk, she was amazing ) but only for about 3 days.
The hardest part was overcoming all the negativity at the hospital
in the beginning.

I think the thing that helped her most was that she was a high energy
person who didn't seem to "expect " lots of sleep. Most triplet moms
seem to start enthusiastically but often don't have the energy for the
long haul. She also had babies who did well sucking and were mostly
contented. My role seemed to be just to keep telling her she could
do it ( after the initial help with latching and positioning ).

Why does your mom need to pump as well ? She shouldn't have to
worry too much about which baby gets which breast, she should trust her
body and know what good milk transfer looks like. Her husband can
certainly help keep track of things, making sure mom eats and drinks,
keeping visitors away for now, changing diapers and learning how to
bathe babies fast etc. Best wishes to all of them.
