Another thought: how old is this mom? Say she got pregnant when she was
<35 y/o and now she is menstruating again at >35 y/o. Those of us old
enough to know from personal experience will attest that periods get heavier
as you get closer to perimenopause - probably not a word a 35 y/o wants to
hear, but certainly within plausible consideration. (gotta add, a lot more
plausible than heavy periods caused by breastfeeding!!! which makes NO
hormonal sense that I've been able to piece together)
Maybe this maturational progression just seems more abrupt because of the
many months without menstruating? Just a thought.
Kathleen Bellis's suggestions remind me of that old quote from LLL stuff,
where Dr. Greg White comments about babies spitting up: it's a laundry
problem, not a breastfeeding problem :-)
